Meet Our Scientific Advisory Board
At Pritikin, we remain dedicated to continuous improvement. First established in 2024, our Scientific Advisory Board meets quarterly to review and update the offerings across our organization in response to emerging research. Consisting of leaders in the fields of nutrition, cardiology, geriatrics, and lifestyle medicine, this talented and passionate group ensures the highest standards for our providers and their patients, as well as guests of the Pritikin Longevity Center.
Cate Collings, M.D.
Dr. Cate Collings is a nationally-recognized leader in lifestyle medicine, with more than four decades of clinical experience in cardiology and patient care. She has been instrumental in developing scalable initiatives which advance lifestyle-based interventions for the treatment of chronic disease. Her work spans multiple sectors of healthcare, and her mentorship of both physicians and industry leaders focuses on driving transformation at an organizational level. Dr. Collings serves as a Board Director and immediate past president of the American College of Lifestyle Medicine, as well as Board Treasurer of the Physical Activity Alliance and a Delegate for the American Medical Association.
Samuel Klein, M.D.
Dr. Samuel Klein is the William H. Danforth Professor of Medicine at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, where he also serves as Director of the Center for Human Nutrition and Chief of the Division of Geriatrics and Nutritional Sciences. An internationally-recognized expert in metabolism, obesity, and nutrition, his research focuses on the mechanisms and treatment of metabolic disease. Dr. Klein has authored more than 350 scientific publications and has led numerous NIH-funded studies. He earned his MD from Temple University and completed advanced training at MIT and Harvard Medical School.
Eric Lenze, M.D.
Dr. Eric Lenze is Head of the Department of Psychiatry at Washington University School of Medicine, where he specializes in geriatric psychiatry and mental health innovation. His research – highlighted in more than 350 publications in leading medical journals – focuses on improving treatment for depression, anxiety, and cognitive disorders. Dr. Lenze has led groundbreaking studies on repurposed medications, including fluvoxamine for COVID-19 and long COVID. He is also a pioneer in remote and technology-enabled clinical trials, and he co-founded the Center for Perioperative Mental Health to advance integrated care models.
Jessica Matthews, DBH, NBC-HWC, FACLM, DipACLM
Dr. Jessica Matthews is a nationally recognized educator, speaker, and thought leader in lifestyle medicine and health behavior change. She is known for developing innovative academic and professional training programs and for advancing health and wellness coaching in clinical and educational settings. A frequent keynote speaker and media contributor, she has spent more than 15 years sharing her expertise across global platforms. Dr. Matthews is an accomplished author and serves in leadership roles across multiple organizations, with a strong commitment to healthcare innovation and professional education.
Susan B. Racette, Ph.D.
Dr. Susan B. Racette is a professor and researcher specializing in nutrition, exercise physiology, and lifestyle interventions for cardiovascular and metabolic health. Her work focuses on improving cardiorespiratory fitness and recovery after cardiac events, exercise interventions to delay age-related physiological decline, and lifestyle-based prevention strategies. Beyond her research and teaching, she is dedicated to mentoring the next generation of scientists and clinicians. Dr. Racette previously served as faculty at Washington University School of Medicine, and she now continues her work at Arizona State University.
Ronald Riner, M.D.
Dr. Ronald Riner is a cardiologist with more than 50 years of experience in clinical medicine, healthcare leadership, and medical education. He has trained at leading institutions including Cornell University, Princeton University, and the Mayo Clinic, and has held roles across academic, private, and corporate healthcare settings. In addition to clinical practice, Dr. Riner has served in senior management and governance roles within large health systems. He is a frequent advisor, speaker, and consultant, known for his broad expertise across the business and practice of medicine.

Joe Sasson, Ph.D.
Dr. Joe Sasson is a healthcare executive with nearly two decades of experience driving growth and innovation across the healthcare industry. He has helped bring more than 75 companies and products to-market, spanning the fields of medtech, pharmaceuticals, and healthcare information technology. As a leader at MedAxiom, he focuses on developing strategic partnerships and advancing value-based care models. Dr. Sasson also leads initiatives connecting providers and payers to improve outcomes and reduce costs. He holds a Ph.D. in Organizational Behavior Management.
Pam Taub, M.D.
Dr. Pam Taub is a professor at the UC San Diego School of Medicine and a leading expert in cardiovascular disease prevention and treatment. She is the Founding Director of the Step Family Foundation Cardiac Rehabilitation and Wellness Center and specializes in innovative approaches to heart health, including digital health and lifestyle interventions. Widely-published, Dr. Taub’s research focuses on improving outcomes through prevention and recovery strategies, and she is an active leader in several professional societies.
