Meet (Us!) in St. Louis: 2026 Corporate Retreat

Written by Nikki Sabatini | 7/28/26, 3:39 PM

Once again, our fully-remote team gathered in St. Louis, Missouri, for a week dedicated to professional development, team building, and strengthening the relationships that make Pritikin such a special place to work. For many of us, it's the one opportunity each year to be together in person, reconnect with familiar faces, welcome new teammates, and celebrate everything we've accomplished together.

As a newer Account Manager, I went into this retreat expecting the week to be productive, but I had no idea I was about to experience one of the most memorable weeks of professional development in my career. Throughout the week, I realized this retreat wasn't just about learning; it was about building genuine relationships, creating lasting memories, and experiencing firsthand the culture that makes Pritikin such an incredible place to work.

Over the past year, we've continued expanding our impact, supporting more licensed facilities across the country and developing innovative ways to better serve our clients and patients. While our work spans coast to coast, this week reminds us that our greatest strength has always been our people.

Bonding Over Bullseyes

We kicked off the week with an evening of friendly competition at Flight Club, where darts, laughter and great conversation set the tone for the days ahead. Whether teammates were showing off their hidden dart-throwing talents or simply cheering one another on, the evening was filled with genuine connection and plenty of laughs.

Between delicious food, a little healthy competition and the excitement of seeing one another again, it was the perfect way to begin a memorable week together.

Professional Development

The following day, we came together for a full day of professional development led by our President, Terry Rogers, alongside our leadership team. Throughout the sessions, we reflected on our continued growth as an organization, celebrated the accomplishments of the past year and discussed the exciting opportunities that lie ahead.

What stood out to me most wasn't just the content of the presentations; it was the opportunity to connect with teammates and our leadership on a more personal level. The conversations throughout the day made everyone feel approachable, invested, and genuinely interested in one another's success. I don't think you come across many organizations where every person truly feels seen, heard and included.
Much like every year, the focus wasn't simply on business strategy - it was on preserving and strengthening the culture that makes Pritikin unique. Through thoughtful discussions, collaborative activities and shared experiences; we explored new ways to communicate, support one another and continue building an organization where people genuinely enjoy coming to work each day.

As our company continues to grow, protecting our culture remains one of our highest priorities. This year's sessions served as another reminder that every team member plays an important role in creating an environment built on trust, collaboration, kindness and a shared commitment to improving lives.

A Vineyard for Connection

Following our day of learning, we boarded the bus for an evening at a beautiful local vineyard, where meaningful conversations continued in a relaxed setting surrounded by beautiful views.

One of the most heartfelt moments of the evening was celebrating our beloved Cindy as she prepares for retirement. After thoughtful remarks from Terry and John, recognizing her incredible contributions and lasting impact on the company, our team had the privilege of presenting Cindy with a retirement gift as a small token of our appreciation.

It was a touching reminder that while milestones and achievements are important, it's the people behind them who truly shape our organization. Cindy's kindness, leadership, and unwavering dedication have left an immeasurable mark on Pritikin, and we are incredibly grateful for everything she has given to our team.

The evening perfectly reflected what I had been experiencing all week. Every event was intentionally designed to bring people together, and it became clear that the connections we build here aren't accidental—they're part of what makes Pritikin's culture so special.

Lake Day!

We wrapped up the week the best way we know how—with our annual Lake Day in Rhineland, Missouri. Compliments to Terry for opening his home to all of us.

The day felt like summer camp for adults, complete with water sports, crafts, delicious surprises and plenty of opportunities to simply enjoy each other's company. Cory surprised Terry with a long sought after handmade set of cornhole boards. Terry once again proved there are few things he can't do, spending much of the day teaching employees to wakeboard and water ski while others relaxed by the water, explored creative crafts, or enjoyed lawn games and great conversation.

As if the day couldn't get any sweeter, a surprise food truck and an unexpected visit from the Ben & Jerry's ice cream truck kept everyone smiling throughout the afternoon.

One of the most memorable moments came as our IT and Account Management teams surprised Cindy with a heartfelt farewell performance of "See You Again," celebrating her retirement and honoring the incredible legacy she leaves behind. There were plenty of smiles, a few tears and an overwhelming sense of gratitude for the friendships and memories we've built together.

Looking Ahead

Every year, this week reminds us that our culture is the foundation of everything we do. While we may work remotely throughout the year, the relationships we build during these few days together strengthen our collaboration long after we return home.

Our team is united by a shared mission of inspiring and empowering people and communities to live heart-healthy lives. Whether we're supporting healthcare providers, developing new resources, implementing programs across the country, or simply encouraging one another, we know our greatest impact comes from working together.

As I headed home, I found myself reflecting on how grateful I am to be part of an organization that places such a high value on people. This week reinforced what I had already begun to feel—that I had found my forever company and team.

To everyone involved in planning this incredible retreat, thank you. Thank you for creating an environment where employees can connect professionally and personally, where new team members feel immediately welcomed, and where the sense of teamwork we experience through our screens every day comes to life in person. I now understand why our organization feels so connected throughout the rest of the year, even while working remotely.

We're grateful for another unforgettable week of learning, laughter, and connection—and we're already counting down until we can do it all again next year.
