CVAUSA Establishes Platform Agreement with Pritikin ICR

Written by Jenny Ray | 4/16/25 7:00 AM
Pritikin recently finalized its Platform Agreement with Cardiovascular Associates of America (CVAUSA), making it the preferred partner in offering facility-based Intensive Cardiac Rehab to the growing network of 27 CVAUSA medical groups.

The Pritikin program is approved by Medicare and most commercial payers to provide reimbursement for up to 72 billable sessions of Intensive Cardiac Rehab (ICR) – comprised of both exercise rehabilitation and lifestyle education – for qualifying patients. The program consists of clinically supervised exercises, heart-healthy nutrition workshops and cooking demonstrations, as well as healthy mind-set education.

“One of our core tenets at CVAUSA is reliability; our leadership team is ever in pursuit of resources and strategies which add value to our partners,” states Tim Attebery, CEO, CVAUSA. “Pritikin is the perfect example of aligning clinical effectiveness with operational efficiency: physicians can offer their patients a best-in-class cardiac rehab experience directly on-site, and it’s financially rewarding to the practice.”

As the market leader in ICR, and approaching 300 licensed locations nationwide, Pritikin brings more than a decade of experience to assist physician practices in all aspects of launching an ICR program, including planning, implementation, training, and staffing support. Through monthly business reviews, in-depth program metrics, and ongoing account management support, Pritikin remains committed to the success – both clinically and financially – of its licensed provider locations, long after launch.

“Pritikin’s robust educational curriculum, thorough training of the provider’s cardiac rehab clinicians, ongoing account management support, and favorable payer reimbursement come together to create a unique opportunity for physician-based practices to grow their cardiac service line. In doing so, they can deliver additional value to patients through a clinically proven, cost-effective program,” said Terry Rogers, President, Pritikin ICR. “Pritikin is off to a fast start with three CVAUSA-affiliated practices already contracted or offering the Pritikin program at their facilities, and we are thrilled to officially partner with CVAUSA to further expand this footprint.”
